A month for project launches!

This week, a number of the projects I have been working on for many months have come to fruition - you can read a bit about all three of them below.

Ysbyty Ystrad FM

Ysbyty Ystrad FM (YYFM) is a innovative, on-demand, 24/7 hospital radio service.

We’ve got interviews with local people, local news updates, hospital messaging, audio dramas… We’ve got also Welsh language content, you can learn how to speak Spanish, there’s music from local choirs, and so much more.

I have worked with a number of different stakeholders on this project, including those at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, Caerphilly Country Borough Council, the University of South Wales and students from schools local to Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

Patients, visitors and those further afield can listen at itsyyfm.com.

The Arts & Culture Show

I’ve been a Broadcast Journalist at Bro Radio since the middle of last year, and I was lucky enough to be given a monthly slot on the station, for a show of my own.

Launching tomorrow (Tuesday 16th February) evening, The Arts & Culture Show focuses on a different strand of arts and culture each month - this month I turned my focus to the performing arts.

My first show features music from Kinky Boots, Matilda: The Musical, Les Miserables, and more! I also spoke with the owner of the UK’s smallest theatre, magic theatre and cinema, and the Principal of the Vale Academy of Performing Arts.

The Arts & Culture Show broadcasts on Bro Radio every third Tuesday of the month.

You can hear my first Arts & Culture Show tomorrow evening on Bro Radio, or on-demand after it’s been broadcast here.

LGBTQymru Magazine

I’ve been part of the LGBTQymru team since the end of the year. Last year, they were responsible for organising the first ever Wales-wide virtual Pride event.

Wanting to continue serving the LGBTQ+ community, LGBTQymru looked at how they could do just that, resulting in the LGBTQymru magazine being created - it’s the first Wales-focussed LGBTQ+ magazine, it’s also bi-lingual, it’s free, and accessible to all online.

Three of my articles feature in the inaugural issue:

Women and Equalities Committee to report on Gender Recognition Act inquiry findings (pg. 16)

In Conversation: Ruth Fowler (pg. 38)

LGBTQ+ ‘Blood Ban’ to be lifted this summer (pg. 60)
